I love the magic of a good read, how a great author can pull me into the story. It is truly difficult to choose favorites when the topic is authors, but a few come to mind. For pure magic and beauty, J.R.R.
Tolkein. For adventure and savagery, Robert E. Howard for his Conan series and his Fight Stories. Stories of pets and love for those pets, Wilson Rawls for Where the Red Fern Grows and Fred Gipson for Old Yeller. Both of those books made me cry. Thomas Harris took me to a place where madness is the norm in his trilogy of romantic psycoses and blood-lust. Edgar Rice Burroughs for the immortal Tarzan. The Brothers Grimm, Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm who have captivated children and adults alike with their tales of magic and morals. Rumi, a philosopher and poet who said The price of a kiss is your life, so my loving runs toward my life saying, what a bargain, lets buy it. For the macabre, the visceral visions of night, we need only look as far as Edgar Allan Poe. Now assuming that we all counted BOTH Brothers Grimm, I have given my ten.
